What is a Doula?
A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to their client before, during and shortly after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.
Benefits of a Doula
Studies have found women with a doula have a decreased risk of cesarean section, shorter labors, less use of epidurals, less use of Pitocin, and increased satisfaction in their childbirth experience.
Having a birth doula means guaranteed one-on-one support during labor and birth. For moms planning to deliver at home or in a hospital.
Even if you have a midwife, I can still provide support, as doulas and midwives work as a team to support you emotionally and physically. The doula will completely focus on supporting you, especially at times when the midwife is focusing on tasks and support related to you and your baby’s clinical well-being.
